Mekong

259 5th Ave, Brooklyn 11215
Park Slope, at Garfield St.

We are loyal Mekong customers, despite having been to Mekong exactly once, the week we moved to Brooklyn, and not intending ever to come back: the wait to be seated and the wait for the food were much too long for hungry, impatient people such as ourselves. So now we order via their delivery service, and we do so a lot. We like the lemongrass grilled chicken appetizer, the chicken curry soup with rice noodles, the grilled pork with lemongrass, and the fried tofu with lemongrass and green peppers. As you may have guessed, this food is not for the lemongrass-shy: hundreds of tiny ground-up lemongrass chunks appear to be the base for their sauces, where for example a Thai restaurant would use coconut milk. But they have two phone lines, and their delivery is fast and free.
