I found this What's your world view? quiz on Cahiers de Corey and highly recommend taking it, just because the questions are so great, and answering them and taking a stand on these philsophical issues feels so affirming.

(I wasn't that close a match with anything; I was 75% cultural creative and 50% or less everything else.)

  1. oh no! i couldn’t make head or tail of most of the questions, so i disagreed with almost all of them and came out a postmodernist. 63%. “There is no absolute truth for you; even the most hardened facts are open to interpretation.” but i disagreed with “There is no truth”! even the most hardened quiz questions are open to interpretation.

i think, dear miranda, i now understand why people publish shiny-eyed books about cultural creatives driving the urban economy of the new century and terrible books about postmodernist academics destroying society. scoring as an INTJ was far more gratifying—they assured me i could rule the world, presuming i believed in it.

  2. I was 75% Cultural Creative as well but at Existentialist 69%, Materialist 63% and Postmodernist 50% I am even more confused than eggy.

  3. The test is easier to take if you rate the questions on a scale of “This question is stupid” to “This question is reasonable.”

  4. Augh! I scored as a Postmodernist (69%) given the above interpretation.

  5. Wow, 94% cultural creative, and 81% postmodernist. But I think I was reading a foreign language.

  6. 81% cultural creative, 31% or less everything else

  7. Yeah, the questions are stupid. But doesn’t it feel good to mark the dumbest ones “Strongly disagree”? (Until you get punished with the postmodern designation, that is.) What is with this cultural creative designation. Is it a conspiracy or a catch-all for regular people? What percent of people taking the test score that way, I wonder?

  8. 81% Materialist, unsurprisingly.

From a quick google, “cultural creative” seems to mean, roughly, “hippie.”

  9. Not all of the questions are stupid. For example Morals are socially constructed seems like a reasonable topic for debate (I have a vision of Mike Meyers: “Morals are socially constructed. Discuss.”), and I am slowly warming to others.

Statements like Everything is rational if given the right amount of effort, are, on the other hand, baffling. The solutions to x-1 = 1/x, for example, will never be rational, no matter what the effort.

I suspect my strong agreement with Interpretation is an intrinsic feature of the fabric of the universe is what garnered my my PoMo score.

There’s no such thing as truth is much more fun if you’re rating it True or False.

  10. These analyses are hilarious… Props to pica and peebles for bucking the trend!
